Sustainability

As part of our commitment to be better, faster, smarter and greener, Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN has a strong corporate focus on sustainability. From our own Gold LEED certified Midwest office to our most recently completed Silver LEED applied for Medical Pavilion at Howard County, we integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our process.

The development of a solid sustainability strategy begins with the client’s vision and focuses on achieving corporate responsibility around the triple-bottom-line of societal, environmental and economic well-being. Strategizing around healthier healing environments and a healthier delivery of care is a natural fit. These include improved patient outcomes, increased employee satisfaction, enhanced recruitment and retention and heightened community support, as well as reduced financial and operational risk.

With our focus on sustainability, Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN employs a dedicated Senior Sustainability Consultant in advance planning to oversee each baseline building design and evaluates the clients sustainable goals through LEED credit criteria. We are active members in the United Sates Green Building Council and offer an internal training program to develop LEED Accredited Professionals and support LEED AP’s in their Credit Management Program.

We are also corporate stewards, bringing our employee newsletter online to reduce paper use and printing our corporate annual report on paper made from FSC certified forests with recycled content. To reduce our carbon footprint, each of our offices encourages recycling with conveniently located bins for paper, aluminum, plastics and glass.
